  Working Principles
Click to ViewThe transcriptome is the complete set of transcripts in a cell, both in terms of type and quantity. Microarray is a technology to study the transcriptome of a population of cells, In this technology the control and experimental sample mRNA is transcribed into cDNA and labelled with CY3 and CY5 dyes,respectively. The labelled mRNA is allowed to hybridize on the microarray slide based on the principle that complementary sequences will bind to each other. The signal generated is read in the scanner and the feature extraction software converts the signal to quantitative terms.

Hybridization and ScanningSamples after the experiment/collection have to be immediately processed for RNA isolation or preserved in RNA Later. It should be borne in mind that the RNA quality is key to the success of the experiment
