Instrument/Facility Name: Atomic Absorption Spectrometry
Make                                   : Agilent Technologies
Model                                  : 200 Series AA
Specification   :

Click to ViewAtomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS) is an analytical technique used to measure a wide range of elements concentration in samples by its electromagnetic or mass spectrum.

  Working Principles
Click to ViewThe technique uses basically the principle that free atoms (gas) generated in an atomizer can absorb radiation at specific frequency. AAS quantifies the absorption of ground state atoms in the gaseous state. The atoms absorb ultraviolet or visible light and make transitions to higher electronic energy levels. The analyte concentration is determined from the amount of absorption. Concentration measurements are usually determined from a working curve after calibrating the instrument with standards of known concentration. The radiation flux without a sample and with a sample in the atomizer is measured using a detector, and the ratio between the two values (the absorbance) is converted to analyte concentration or mass using the Beer-Lambert Law.

  User Instructions
It can analyse over 62 elements and measures the concentration of metals and metalloids in the environmental samples. Many industries require a variety of elemental determinations on a diverse array of samples in different sectors viz. Agriculture, Chemical/Industrial, Environmental Study, Food Industry, Forensics, Geochemical/Mining, Renewable Energy, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, Nuclear Energy, Biomonitoring, Semiconductor, Nano-materials, etc.As per user manual of 200 Series AA
