Instrument Details
Instrument/Facility Name: High Performance Liquid Chromatography
Make                                   : Waters
Model                                  : Waters 515 Pumps; 717 Sampler & 2998 PDA
Specification   :HPLC is a qualitative and quantitative analyzer of organic compounds with high resolution and accurate compound detection with high sensitivity.

Click to ViewThe HPLC system with ICAR-NRC for Banana has binary pumps with autosampler, pump control module and photodiode array (PDA) detector

  Working Principles
Click to ViewThe liquid chromatography separates biochemical compounds based on various physical and/or chemical interactions taking place between the sample/ molecules/ substances and the stationary phase. Because of interactions, the molecules travel according to their relative affinities towards the stationary phase. The component which has more affinity towards the adsorbent travels slower. The component which has less affinity towards the stationary phase travels faster. Since no two components have the same affinity towards the stationary phase, the components are separated. The HPLC is combined with PDA detector.

  User Instructions
1. Qualitative analysis of organic compounds. 2. Quantitative analysis of organic compounds. 1.At present universal RP C-18 columns are available and if specific column is required, it may be mentioned. 2.Buffers/solvents required for analysis of biochemical compounds and operating conditions including run frequency of the samples be specified. 3.It is mandatory to mention the source and type of biochemicals to be anlaysed. 4.No toxic chemicals will be accepted and samples must be accompanied by materials safety data sheet (MS-DS). 5.Expected quantitative and qualitative data must be provided. 6.Solvent for mobile phase should be mentioned or solubility of compound in volatile solvent should be given.
